There's no getting away with it, we all love our hobbies no matter how great, or not so great, they are...

All I want and most people too, is for, example our cars to be reliable and not a burden to me. To just jump in it, or on it and be able to go shopping, around to friends or disappear into the sunset!

I'm not one for flashy things, particularly being a practical person and in the past, I have had bangers, new company cars, my own purchased cars/caravans/motorbikes and all have had good and bad sides to them. Some more than others!

Once, I had a brand new Peugeot 405 company car that, from day one, had constant carburettor problems the dealers and the factory struggled to cure. Someone drove into the back of the car when it was nearly two years old and wrote it off doing us all a favour!

I bought my wife an ex-demo, six month old, Hyundai Amica GSi in 2001, we eventually had a new battery on it twelve years later and the following year the original exhaust fell off boxing day and we decided to sell it. My wife cried...

That car was an amazing run about and to the best of my knowledge... is still on the road!!!

Now, I look to buy something that will tow the 'Tin tent' and is economical and reliable as possible. I never buy brand new, preferring approximately three year old cars, as depreciation is horrendous on new cars and I tend to keep them for four or five years, less if unreliable.

Cars are a money pit generally...

The same applies to most things we purchase for a hobby, whether its a motor vehicle, a set of golf clubs or as in my case my caravan, motorbike and my musical instruments!

Now I have semi-retired and have more time, I am looking at Vlogging and expanding this website, so... Pop back and visit carefulnottight.co.uk on a regular basis to catch up on whats happening.
